Uga Bay, Pasikudah Celebrates Fourth Year Anniversary With Staff And Community

Uga Bay marked an important milestone by entering its 4th year in the hospitality industry. The elegant and lush beach resort hotel located in Pasikudah on the pristine border of the East Coast, celebrated the occasion by giving back to the community and of course treating its staff and guests. Uga Bay has made big strides in a short period of time, rising to the top as one of the island’s most famed and primarily selected luxury accommodation options. With its expansive and breathtaking structure encompassing 46 rooms and suites, an underground spa, first-class service and impeccable attention-to-detail, it is easy to see why. Since its launch, the hotel has been sought after by honeymooners as well as families looking to indulge in a unique experience whilst taking in what the region has to offer. One can look forward to snorkeling, fishing and jet-skiing although for the more adventurous; diving amongst WW2 shipwrecks is also on the menu.

The celebrations were piloted by religious observances incorporating all four religions that are heeded in Sri Lanka. ABuddhist monk, Catholic Priest, Hindu Priest and Muslim Moulavi graced the event with their presence by leading the religious ceremonies that followed the traditional lighting of the oil lamp.Afterwards, the winners and runners-up of the Inter-Departmental cricket tournament were awarded their trophies respectively where upon conclusion, senior members of staff were called on to cut the anniversary cake. Members of staff were then treated to a special lunch arranged within the Entertainment Centre along with a movie screening.

To share the spirit, the General Manager of Uga Bay along with some of the Heads of Department and Executives made their way to Valachchanai Hindu College to make a donation of two fans to the G.C.E. A/L Commerce classroom. Uga Bay has been sponsoring the classroom for the past two years, through painting and renovations as well as the provision of desks. The hotel currently undertakes annual maintenance of the classroom involving members of staff thereby upholding its standard for a better educational environment. In light of this, following the donation, a team of employees engaged in the annual painting session. The engineering team was also actively involved in the project bringing their expertise into the picture with the installation of two new wall fans, amending electrical discrepancies with light fixtures and attending towiring necessities.

Wrapping up the day’s festivities, Uga Bay organised an evening tea party on behalf of all its in-house guests who were able to enjoy a variety of customary Sri Lankan savouries and sweets. This allowed the hotel to engage its visitors in something truly special, whilst sharing some of the country’s traditional celebratory dishes offering them an extended insight to local cuisine.
