Huawei Selected As Official Supplier For PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games

In February 2018, over 50,000 people will come together in PyeongChang, South Korea, for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. With the Games’ theme of ‘Passion. Connected’, technology will be central to empowering athletes, coaches and audiences. To help PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) build a cutting-edge network to power the Games, Huawei Korea has been selected as the Official Supplier of Network Equipment for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

In Seoul this afternoon, Lee Hee-beom, President & CEO of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG), and Yan Lida, President of Huawei Enterprise Business Group, signed network equipment supply and sponsorship agreements.

With a comprehensive network system covering the Games Network, Administration Network and Facility Network, Huawei will facilitate various services including real-time competition data transmission, broadband certification for audiences, and stadium security protection for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Lee Hee-beom, President & CEO of POCOG, said: “Given Huawei’s advanced technologies and excellent services in the network equipment area, we believe that Huawei will supply cutting-edge network equipment to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, supporting POCOG to offer athlete- and audience-oriented network services that will bring to life unprecedented connectivity and experience.”

It is estimated that all equipment will be delivered and all networks will be constructed by the third quarter of 2017. During the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games from February 9, 2018 to end of March 2018, Huawei will provide network maintenance and protection services to the Games.
