Sixth World Construction Symposium Begins In Colombo

The 6th World Construction Symposium 2017 commenced today (30th June) and will be held until 2nd July in Colombo under the theme ‘What's New and What's Next in the Built - Environment sustainability Agenda?’. This annual global event is jointly organized by the Ceylon institute of Builders and Building Economics management and Research Unit of the Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa.

The symposium provides a special platform for researchers and practitioners in the area of sustainable construction worldwide to exchange information on creating a sustainable built environment and thus advancing sustainable development and over fifty research papers will be presented by academics and industry professionals from Sri Lanka, Turkey, Oman, India, Australia, Hong Kong and Malaysia on this occassion.

Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Chandima Weerakkodi participated in the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Over 100 foreign delegates and over 200 local delegates are attending the symposium. Meanwhile, the CIOB Green Mark Building Awards 2017 will be held on 1st July at Hotel Ramada, Colombo.
