Levy On Imported Sugar Increased

The Special Commodity Levy (SCL) on a kilo of imported sugar has been increased by Rs. 8 with effect from midnight yesterday (15th August). At present, the price of a kilo of sugar in world market has been reduced by Rs. 10. Though the SCL has been increased, the Sugar Importers’ Association has informed the government that there would be no change in the selling price.
