Veteran journalist Saman Athaudahetti's latest book Sonduru Sakwala Piyasa Dige’ (Wandering with pleasure along the Roof of the World) launched at the multi-purpose hall of Wangshu Hotel, in Beijing, China on September 12. The author paints an accurate picture of the social, cultural, religious and political trends of Tibet. Its the fourth travelogue written by Athaudahetti.

Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne delivered the main lecture. The launching ceremony organised by the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee International Affairs Department was attended by diplomats, communist party officials and representatives of publication and media institutions among others.

Tibet zone, the highest region on Earth, is a part of the People's Republic of China. Tibet Autonomous Region was established in 1965, thus making Tibet an administrative division that is essentially equivalent in status to a Chinese province. The Tibet Autonomous Region is the second-largest province-level division of China by area and is the least densely populated provincial-level division of the PRC. The traditional Tibetan culture remains strong and central to the region despite economic development and migration of other Chinese ethnic groups to the region.
