'Ranaweera Kavi Sandava' will be held Saturday, 16 December 2017, from 3.00pm to 6.00pm at Mahaweli Center auditorium to celebrate forty years of literary work of veteran poet Ariyawansa Ranaweera. Ranaweera's newest poetry collection 'Thawath Mal' also to be launched on that day.

Ariyawansa Ranaweera, well-known translator, critic and journalist, has so far written over 1000 poems and has published many poetry books. ‘To A Girl Who Laughs Often’,'Dothak Kavi', ‘Death of the Office Assistant’, ‘The July striker’s shop’ and ‘Contemporary Lion’ are among his poetry work. Ranaweera is much acclaimed for getting inspirations from ordinary day-today life and simple use of language in his literary work.
