A letter, apparently sent to a Deputy General Manager of a bank by the Private Secretary to Minister Sajith Premadasa, has been revealed on social media.

Through this letter, written on a letterhead of the Ministry of Housing and Construction, the Minister’s private secretary P. Samarasinghe reminds the DGM of a telephone conversation on October 29, 2015, regarding a businessman.

Samarasinghe states that the businessman is engaged in retail trade and is a close associate of the Minister.

Samarasinghe requests the DGM to consider the businessman’s request for a loan of Rs 1.5 million on a low interest rate.

The letter is dated October 28, 2015.
