Six Suspects Including Captain Tissa To Be Arrested By CID For Thajudeen Murder

Six individuals, including former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s chauffer ‘Captain Tissa’ , will soon be arrested by the arrested by the CID in connection with firmer Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen’s murder, authoritative Police sources told Daily News.

Among possible suspects of the investigation are three individuals who were previously attached to the Presidential Security Division.

The CID has also received information that an underworld figure named ‘Surekha’ has a link to the murder. ‘Surekha’, a nephew of well-known underworld figure Soththi Upali, had strong ties with members of a powerful political family under the previous government.
 

The CID has already obtained a travel ban on the six individuals to prevent them from leaving the country ahead of possible arrests.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, a top Police source said the CID could make the arrests before the next hearing of the case on January 20. He said the Colombo Additional Magistrate has granted permission for the CID to proceed with the investigation.
