UNP Western Provincial Councilor from Kalutara District Ifthikar Jamil removed his sarong and climbed on top of the table inside the council chamber to protest over the quota given to get students enrolled for Grade 1 of schools under provincial council control.

He accused UPFA councilor Prasanna Sanjeewa of using up the quota without giving him an opportunity.

In response, Sanjeewa claimed that he is prepared to answer Jamil outside the chamber and he knows how to answer him.

However, Jamil later ended his protest, wrapped his sarong back and returned to his seat.
