UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha is to join the pro-Rajapaksa camp in the near future, highly placed sources of the pro-Rajapapaksa camp told Asian Mirror on Sunday.

The UPFA General Secretary's crossover to the MR group will plunge the coalition into a serious crisis as he holds one of the most important positions in the UPFA. Premjayantha, on the other hand, is one of the key party officials when it comes to nominations for the forthcoming Parliamentary election.

This comes in a context where President Maithripala Sirisena has said the SLFP will contest the next Parliamentary election under the UPFA coalition. Premajayantha's crossover to the Rajapaksa camp will give influence to the pro-Rajapaksa camp over the nomination process of the coalition.

Sources from the pro-Rajapaksa group confirmed Asian Mirror that the UPFA General Secretary had help several successful rounds of discussions with the stalwarts of the MR camp.
