Chandimal Removed From T20 Captaincy: Malinga And Thirimanne To Lead The Side

Dinesh Chandimal has been removed from Vice Captaincy of the ODI team as well as from the T20 Captaincy, SLC sources said. 

Lahiru Thirimanne has been appointed as the Vice Captain of the Sri Lanka's ODI team for the forthcoming tour of England. Angelo Mathews will remain the captain in the 50 over format. 

Meanwhile, Lasith Malinga, who was previously the Vice Captain of the T20 team, has been appointed as the regular captain of the Sri Lankan team in T20 format of the game. Lasith Malinga led Sri Lanka to victory at the recently held T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. 

Lahiru Thirimanne has been appointed as the new Vice Captain of the T20 team. Thirimanne will be the Vice Captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team in all three formats of the game.

Commenting on the move, Sri Lankan cricket commentator Russel Arnold said, "This is good for Chandimal as well.. Now he can focus on his game. I believe he has the goods and has a role to play in Sri Lanka's future."
