SLFP Needs Complete Reorganization, Says President Sirisena

September 02, 2015
President Maithripala Sirisena today said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) needs a complete reorganisation and a fresh image.

Speaking at the 64th anniversary celebrations of the party held at Rajarata Navodya Grounds in Kaduruwela, Polonnaruwa, he said it was time to forget the hateful politics and build a new political culture.

He acknowledged the successes of the past such as ending the war under the leadership of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. However, there were a number of other tasks to be achieved, including addressing the needs of the people.

Meanwhile, he responded to critics of his leadership, saying that he is a slow but steady mover. He will not reverse in the journey ahead, Sirisena said.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and many senior SLFP members took part in the celebrations.
