Wimal Ends Hide And Seek: Meets President At Waters Edge

Ending weeks of hide-and-seek, Leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna Minister Wimal Weerawansa met President Mahinda Rajapaksa last night at Waters Edge in Battaramulla at the 70th  anniversary of K D  Ebert and Sons Holdings Pvt Ltd.

The President warmly greeted Weerawansa and posed for photographs with him as if there was no tension between the two parties. Weerawansa sat next to the President at the function and seemed to be in a jovial mood. The meeting happened just a few days after Weerawansa appeared on a TV show and criticized the government calling the present administration a "hypocritical" one. However, what was discussed between the two parties at the business function remained a secret.

President's Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath, Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayarathna and Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake also sat at the same table.

Earlier, the President had complained to several ministers that Weerawansa was not responding to telephone calls coming from the President's Office. He also skipped a couple of Cabinet meetings and became the notable absentee at the UPFA May Day rally in Colombo.
