Former DIG Vass Gunawardena is expected to appeal over the death sentence imposed over him and the accused.

Attorneys who represented Gunawardena said that they would file an appeal within few days.

Six suspects including Gunawardena and his son were found guilty and sentenced death yesterday.

Gunawardena and 5 other people were accused and found guilty of the murdur of the businessman Mohomad Siyam.

More than 130 witnesses attested before the court in the hearing.

However, Gunawardena declared that he was not guilty of the charges imposed over him.
