Grandpass Mosque Would Not Be Relocated At Any Cost: DIG Anura Senanayake

Senior DIG Anura Senanayake said that the Grandpass mosque which created a controversy between the Sinhala and Muslim communities in the area a few months ago would not be relocated under any circumstance, and steps will be taken to ensure peaceful worship of the Muslim community

Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion Faiszer Musthapha and Senior DIG Anura Senenayeke met with the residents of the Swarna Chaithya Road in Grandpass along with leaders of the Buddhist temple. The meeting was aimed at finding a lasting solution to a dispute that had arisen between two factions of people over the relocation the Grandpass Mosque.

The Deputy Minister said development work in the mosque will be concluded soon and the both the people and the heads of the temple should extend their support to ensure the development work is a success. The Deputy Minister further said he would not let down the people who placed their trust in him and encouraged the people to work together irrespective of race or religion.
