Low Turnout Seen For 'Sinhale' Protest

February 05, 2016

A relatively low participation was observed at the protest organized yesterday afternoon at Homagama by the Sinhale Movement.

Several dozen monks and around 200 persons were seen at the rally which was organized at Homagama. The group arrived in a motorcade which had set off earlier in the afternoon from Delkanda.

There was a minor confrontation with the police when the police asked the participants to carry out their protest peacefully, without hindering the day-to-day life of the town. However, no major incident was reported.

A rally was also held at Homagama by the Sinhale Movement.
