Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has visited Dharga Town and held discussions with Muslim representatives in the area.
In the discussion, the Parliamentarian has assured the Muslim community that the government is focused on protecting the rights of ethnic and religious minorities in the country, including the Muslims. Parliamentarian Udith Lokubandara too has accompanied Namal Rajapaksa during the visit.
Meanwhile. Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also convened a discussion with several Muslim organizations on the present state of affairs in the country.
When contacted by Asian Mirror, a spokesperson of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, who took part in the discussion, said the dialogue was congenial and they discussed ways to promote friendly relations between the Sinhala and Muslim Communities in Sri Lanka.
However, it is learnt that Muslim representatives have voiced their grievances at the meeting with Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The Defence Secretary too has assured that he is not gravitated towards any particular group or party.
The discussion had taken place in Colombo yesterday .
