TNA Accepts Undivided Sri Lanka In Front Of Supreme Court

The TNA has yesterday agreed to submit an affidavit before the Supreme Court swearing its acceptance of an undivided Sri Lanka.

This arrangement was negotiated yesterday with the presence of President's Counsel K. Kangaeshwaran appearing on behalf of  TNA in the case regarding seven petitions filed before the Supreme Court to annul the results of the Northern Provincial Council election due to the TNA Party Constitution and election manifesto containing references to a separate state.

At that instance the Counselor has said that his client (TNA) have always represented a 'Federal' Sri Lanka and that they will not change where they stand for any reason.

Speaking to media the TNA said that the petitioners also wanted the Court to declare that the ITAK was a political party that had as its chief aim the establishment of a separate state in Sri Lanka.

Two years back the TNA requested India to urge the Sri Lankan government to divide power in the North – East joint zone with police and land power, and also claimed that a proper solution to the Northern situation cannot be brought without a proper division of power.
