The government is mulling strong measures against several websites which published a news claiming that President Maithripala Sirisena fell ill this morning.

These reports had claimed that his condition was critical.

The reason for the report was the cancellation of Sirisena's trip to Jaffna which was scheduled for today. He cancelled the trip at short notice.

He was to address the tri forces at Palali camp.
