President Maithripala Sirisena today made an interesting comment, which creates the impression that he is prepared to transfer the Chinese funded industrial projects to Polonnaruwa from Hambantota.

Speaking at the second anniversary celebration of the good governance government, Sirisena said that he is prepared to give land from Polonnaruwa for development.

"Mr. Prime Minister, if Hambantota does not need development, transfer those projects to Polonnaruwa. I am prepared to give land" he said.

He was commenting on the violent protests held yesterday at Hambantota when the work on a new industrial zone was commenced.
