Another Milestone For LAUGFS Maritime: First To Register Ship At Hambantota Port

LAUGFS announced that it is the first to register a vessel at the Hambantota Port.

The announcement was made together with the purchase of another LPG vessel under LAUGFS Maritime, in its plans to rapidly expand its vessel fleet.

AUGFS Holdings Chairman W.K.H.Wegapitiya stated that “being a conglomerate that takes pride in our Sri Lankan roots, we are extremely pleased to be able to register the first ship at the Hambantota Port.”

Laugfs Maritime Services, fully owned subsidiary and the maritime arm of Sri Lanka’s Laugfs Gas has purchased another Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carrier vessel for US$ 2.875 million.

The vessel renamed “Gas Courage” under the Sri Lankan flag is the third vessel of Laugfs Maritime Services.

The company said in a stock exchange filing Laughs Maritime Services is operating as a project approved by the Board of Investments of Sri Lanka to carry out a sea cargo operation services.

Laugfs Maritime Services purchased its second Liquid Petroleum gas carrier vessel “Gas Dorado” with a total investment of US$ 6.0 million in October 2015.

Its maiden acquisition of LPG ship MT “Gas Challenger” which is registered under the Sri Lankan flag, was made in 2014 marking its entry into maritime business.
