Magistrate Reprimands FCID For Making Yoshitha's Grandmother Sole Suspect In Dehiwela Land Case

Colombo Additional Magistrate Buddhika C. Ragala today reprimanded the FCID for naming Yoshitha Rajapaksa's grandmother, Daisy Forest, the only suspect in the case involving a land in Dehiwela.

It is alleged that she bought the land worth Rs 36 million for Rs 24 million and that the money used for it was wrongfully raised.

The FCID today said that investigations were concluded and the case has been referred to the AG. However, the Magistrate reprimanded the FCID, saying that it is obvious that Forest was used by someone else in this transaction. She may be a witness but there should be other suspects, the Magistrate also said.

At this rate, the AG might instruct that the case be dropped due to lack of evidence, the Magistrate also observed.

Forest was released on a cash bail of Rs 25,000 and two sureties of Rs 1.5 million each.
