Salawa Explosion: About 90 Percent Of Compensation Settled

About 90 percent of Salawa ammunition dump explosion victims have been compensated by 31st of December, 2016, said that Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management S.S. Miyanawala.


The government had allocated Rs. 1,329 million to settle the compensation for the victims and Rs. 1,041 million out of that have been given as compensation by 31st of December.

According to the Secretary Miyanwala, there was a small delay in giving compensations to the rest of victims due the issues prevailing in the valuation process of some residences. They will also be settled soon, he added.

Meanwhile, the temporary business places being built by the Urban Development Authority for the destroyed ventures are also expected to be handed over to the relevant persons by the end of February. The ministry has granted necessary money last week
