Namal Rajapaksa Pleads Not Guilty To Contempt Of Court Charges

UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa today pleaded not guilty when the contempt of court case against him filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption was taken up in the Supreme Court, before a three member bench including the Chief Justice.

The case has been filed on the grounds that he has not appeared before the commission to give a statement.

Rajapaksa's lawyers informed that he was willing to give a statement to the commission.

The AG's department told the court that it will seek the commission's advice on the matter.

Therefore the case was fixed for the next hearing on January 31.
