Sasitharan Says Tamils Disappointed With Draft - TNA Statement Rejected By NPC Councilor

NPC Councilor Ananthi Sasitharan, at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, had said the Tamils in Sri Lanka felt disappointed with the substance of the draft resolution presented by the US to the council.

She had strongly deviated from the statement made by NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran and TNA Leader R. Sampanthan which said the TNA welcomes the draft resolution presented by the US. It is quite apparent that there are two schools of thought in the TNA with regard to the content of the resolution.

Sasitharan has raised the issue of the arrest of a Tamil woman activist and her 13-year-old daughter in Sri Lanka’s northern Kilinochchi district at the meeting of UN human rights body in Geneva.

Ananthi Sasitharan is the wife of former LTTE political wing leader Elilan who  disappeared during the final phase of war.
