Prof. D.M. Semasinghe Dissanayake had assumed office as the new Vice Chancellor of the Kelaniya University. Prof. Semasinghe Dissanayake assumed duties as the 19th Vice Chancellor of the Kelaniya University.

Among those who joined in the occasion were members of the Maha Sangha including Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihare, the Ven. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkitha Thera and University lecturers.
