TNA Is Still A United Party Says Sampanthan

TNA leader R. Sampanthan has stated that the rumors circulating about his impending resignation from the party leadership were totally false.

He stated that even international media has reported that he was going to resign due to disappointment on the internal differences. He mentioned that although the government and the majority of Sinhalese people are hoping for such a break up, the TNA still has not come to that level of disunity.

He also said that he had faced no challenge to the leadership during the past three years in which he held the post. However, due to his advanced age, he was finding it difficult to function efficiently as the party leader. He had already informed the Central Committee about the matter several times, and it will take a decision in due course, Sampanthan stated.
