Colombo Becomes Second Most Expensive City In South Asia: 108th In The World

Asia took the lead in The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Cost Of Living survey, measured in September 2016, the Economist reported.

Singapore was listed as the most expensive city in the world – a full 20% more expensive than New York. Hong Kong came in second place followed by Zurich, Tokyo, Osaka, and Seoul.

Colombo was 108th in the world rankings, but is ranked the second most expensive city in the South Asian region – Dhaka, Bangladesh being the most expensive city in the South Asian region.

Kathmandu came in as the third most expensive city in South Asia.

The survey was based on the prices of 160 goods and services in 133 cities.
