Major General Mahesh Senanayake Assumes Office As 50th Army Chief Of Staff

 

Newly appointed Sri Lanka Army Chief of Staff (CoS) Major General Mahesh Senanayake assumed office at the Army Headquarters yesterday. 

 

Major General Senanayake is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.

 

He has been awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), Rana Soora Padakkama (RSP) many times for bravery as well as the Uththama Seva Padakkma (USP) in recognition of excellence.

 

He served previously as the Jaffna Security Forces Commander.

 

He is the 50th Chief of Staff of the Army after the Sri Lanka Army was established in 1949.
