Meethotamulla Residents Refuse To Leave Despite Danger Zone

Residents of the Meethotamulla area demarcated a danger zone are refusing to move out claiming their houses were not illegal dwellings and that the government was just trying to get them to move.

“They have marked these area a danger zone. But where do we go?” they asked. The government wants us to move but move the where?”

“This is the government’s sinister agenda to get us to go and live in flats and deprive us of our lands,” they alleged.

“We will never move to flats.”

They further alleged that the temporary location organized by the government for them in two paddy warehouses was not convenient.

“School will begin soon for our children. How can we take them to school and take them for exams from this location,” they asked.
