Anuradha Wimalaratne Suspended From United National Party

United National Party (UNP) Provincial Council member Anuradha Wimalaratne has been suspended from the party, as per a letter received by the MP.

Lamenting the incident in a post on Facebook, Wimalaratne said he had always worked according to his conscience.

Wimalaratne said his membership had been suspended because he had been outspoken about the injustice meted out to members of the party and because he had attempted to reveal the underhand work of the government.

Meanwhile, former Mayor of Dehiwala- Mt. Lavinia chimed in Danasiri Amaratunga chimed saying he had been treated the same way by the UNP.

“This is exactly what the UNP did to me too.  They do all the stupid and all the idiotic things under the sun and expect us to keep our mouths’ shut,” he said.

“I did a lot for the UNP for 20 years. I was there when Ranil didn’t have anyone to safeguard him when Karu, Gamini Atukorala, Rukman and Sajith tried to chase him from the leadership.”

“But he is a very ungrateful man. He forgets everything when someone comes and tells him a ‘kaelama’. Finally, I got the same letter that you have got now,” he told Wimalaratne.
