Former PRECIFAC Secretary Says PM Responsible For Sri Lanka's Current Lawless State

Former Secretary to the Presidential Commission on Serious Fraud and Corruption in Sri Lanka, Lacile de Silva said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was responsible for the current lawless state of the country.

"Since the current government came to power, they worked with the sole purpose of ensuring the continuity of the government. They set up legal frameworks towards the same purpose. The 19th Amendment was also aimed at ensuring the stability of the government," se Silva, a senior state official, said in a Facebook post, this morning.

"But, no action has so far been made to pass the National Audit. Although this is not a national government, a large number of ministers have already been appointed," he added.

"If the President does not take action to investigate into bribery and corruption, we will have to come to the conclusion that he too is hoodwinking the public."

De silva was removed from his position as the Secretary of PRECIFAC, last year, while the Commission was probing into large scale corruption allegations under the previous government. The circumstances which led to his removal are still not clear.
