The Joint Opposition (JO) is currently in the process of deciding if they would continue in the Constitutional Assembly, parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena said.

The decision comes on the heels of parliamentarians attached to the National Freedom Front (FMM) withdrawing from the Constitutional Assembly en mass, yesterday.

The Constitutional Assembly consists of all 255 members of parliament, and leaving the challenges the validity of the Assembly, the NFF said yesterday.

However Power and Renewable Energy Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that members of parliament that left the Constitutional Assembly must also vacate their seat in Parliament.
