Security Tightened At Sri Lankan Airlines Office In India

Consequent to the attack on the Sri Lankan Airlines booking office in India on Saturday, the City Police has provided security to the office.

A team of police personnel have been deployed in front of the office to thwart any such untoward incidents.

Police personnel forming part of the Quick Reaction Team have also been roped in to provide security to the airlines office.

A nine-member team headed by a Sub Inspector is providing security in two shifts round-the-clock, said police sources.

A police vehicle has been stationed near the office as a precautionary measure, a senior police officer said.

The City Police arrested two persons on Saturday after they threw stones on the glass panes upon entering the office posing as customers.

The duo resorted to the act to condemn the derogatory article against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa that was posted on the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry’s website.

The two – V. Sathiakumaran (28) and P. Udayakumar (35) have been remanded in judicial custody. The Cantonment Police have registered a case against them. (The Hindu)
