Joint Opposition (JO) MP Kumar Welgama said the public has already decided if the UNP government is full of crooks or not.

He was responding to the claims made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that the UNP was not a party of thieves. The Prime Minister, addressing a meeting in Hatton on Sunday said the UNP would not hesitate to hoof the thieves off.

Addressing the media yesterday, he said, “It is because the public has already decided that there is so much controversy surrounding the issue.”

“We will see in the coming weeks how these crooks will behave,” he said of the people implicated in the Treasury bond issue.

He remained firm in the faith that justice will be served and that it was only a matter of time before the crooks were taken in.

However, the Joint Opposition MP kept mum on the members of his own party representing the Sirisena-Wickremesinghe government.
