Wijeadasa Rajapakshe Next To Go? UNP MPs Inform PM They Will Present No-Confidence Motion Against Justice Minister

A group of UNP MPs have informed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that they will present a no-confidence motion against Justice Minister Wijesdasa Rajapakshe.

The process of collecting signatures for the no-confidence motion began last evening, informed political sources said.

They said the no-confidence motion would be brought against the Justice Minister for blocking investigations into the top-level members of the previous government.

A Cabinet minister has informed the Prime Minister that he will resign from his Cabinet position to lead the no-confidence initiative.

Meanwhile, Rajapakshe's statement against the Hambanthota port agreement has also been criticised by the MP group.

They said the Justice Minister has violated his collective responsibility as a Cabinet minister, by making the statement on the Port agreement.
Rajapakshe, in a recent media statement, said he would give initiative to return the Hambanthota international harbour to the people in the area.
