Transporting Parcels By Train: 'Very Low' Fares To Be Revised By 50% For First Time In Nine Years

The government has decided to increase the fare to transport parcels by train by 50%, except on non-commercial parcels and parcels transported on consumer requirement, so the public would not have to bear an additional expense.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva to increase the fares as they have not been revised in nine years and are very low compared to other parcel transporting services.
