September 07, 2017

The government will continue its battle against dengue despite a dip in numbers, Health Ministry sources said.

To this end, a national ‘Mosquito Control Week’ will be held from September 20-26, the sources said.

The number of those affected by dengue have declined significantly since June this year, which recorded the highest number of those affected – 25, 308.

Over 300 deaths were recorded as a result of the viral fever.

Meanwhile, Health Ministry sources said that the current rainy season could see a spike in numbers of those contracted dengue and warned the public to continue to be vigilant.
