The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will hire new staff from tomorrow in a bid to continue essential services without interruption.

Trade Unions attached to the CEB are currently on a prolonged strike, making several demands of the government.

On September 15, the government requested all staff retired after September 1, 2014 to report to work on a voluntary basis.

Casual, temporary and staff on probation were also asked to report to work in order to continue with essential services.
