UPFA Politician Distances Himself From Threatening Letter

Former UPFA North Western Provincial Councilor Ananda Sarath Kumara, who allegedly forced a school teacher to kneel down in front of her class,  has distanced himself from the threatening letter received by the teacher.

The former UPFA North Western Provincial Council Member who was found guilty of forcing a teacher on her knees at a school in Nawagattegama had visited Nawagattegama Police Station with his 13 year old child last night and had given a statement over the matter.

Susila Herath the teacher who was in charge of discipline in the school received the letter threatening rape and hang her- just like they killed a witness in the court case. The letter has also stated that “there is no point informing the police because I have ministers in my pocket.”

Meanwhile, the dead body of Rajakaruna Herath Mudiyanselage Punyasena Bandara, one of the key witnesses of the trial of Ananda Sarath Kumara, was found on the 1st of this month from an abandoned well near his home. The death remained a mystery and Chilaw Judicial Medical Officer D.K. Wijewardena said that further investigation is being carried out to find the cause of death.

Three police teams led by three ASPs are investigating the death of the witness of the trial of Ananda Sarath Kumara.
