Twenty-Six Arrested In Hambantota: 3 Policemen Injured: Joint Opposition And Security Forces Clash

Twenty-six Joint Opposition protestors were arrested in Hambantota a short while ago.

Three policemen were injured in the clash.

A group of protestors from the Joint Opposition agitated against the government near the Indian Consulate in Hambantota this morning.

A Magistrate Court order issued yesterday sought to prevent them from holding a protest today but the protestors had gone ahead with their protest.

The JO is protesting what they term ‘sinister efforts’ to sell national assets- the Hambantota Port and the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport - to China and India.
