'Journalist Who Was Assaulted In Hambantota Actively Took Part In Protest': Sagala Reveals Photographic Evidence

Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayaka yesterday said the journalist who was assaulted by the Police in Hambanthota, last week, had actively taken part in the anti-Indian demonstration.

"We have photographs to prove his active involvement in the protest. It is clear that he was not doing the duty of a journalist," Ratnayaka said addressing a meeting in Deniyaya.

"There is only one law in the country. The Police officers who overstepped their limits will be dealt with, under a legal framework. The same law will apply to the person who took part in the protest in the guise of a journalist," the Minister explained.

The Minister then showed some photographs to the crowd, in which the journalist was seen actively taking part in the protest, holding placards.

'The journalists should carry out their duties. In this case, it is crystal clear that the journalist has been doing something else!" Ratnayaka stressed.
