Police Use Iron Poles To Quell Student Uprising: Used On Anti-SAITM Students Protest Yesterday

Police has reportedly used iron poles instead rubber batons to quell the student uprising yesterday (10).

The incident has drawn the ire of student activists who denounce the excessive use of force on students.

University students are protesting against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).

Their protest – asking that SAITM is shut down and ‘abolished’  - took to the streets in Colpetty yesterday (10).

Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the thousands strong crowd.
