Rear Admiral S.S. Ranasinghe Appointed New Navy Commander: Replaces Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah

President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Rear Admiral S.S. Ranasinghe as the new Navy Commander.

This appointment was made in accordance with the power vested in the President under the constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The new appointment will be effective from tomorrow (October 26).

With this new appointment Rear Admiral S.S. Ranasinghe has been elevated to the rank of Vice Admiral.

Accordingly, he received his letter of appointment from Secretary to the President, Austin Fernando at the Presidential Secretariat, today (25).

He replaces former Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah who served as Navy Commander a meager 64 days.
