Travis Sinniah Shortest Serving Navy Commander: Served Only For 64 Days As 22nd Navy Commander

Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah, who was appointed Navy Commander on August 18, has become the shortest serving Navy Commander in Sri Lanka, serving a meager 64 days.

President Sirisena this morning decided against extending the service of Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah and appointed Rear Admiral S. S. Ranasinghe in his stead.

Accordingly, Rear Admiral S. S. Ranasinghe, who will be promoted to Vice Admiral, received his letter of appointment from President’s Secretary Austin Fernando this morning.

The news comes as a surprise to many who expected Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah’s service extension to be renewed.

Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah is the first Sri Lanka Tamil officer to be appointed to the topmost position of the Sri Lanka Navy since 1970.
