Government To Tackle Chronic Kidney Disease Head On: Better Medical, Clinical And Treatment Services Touted

The government has proposed that a project costing LKR 462.5 million be implemented to provide better medical, clinical and treatment services for those affected by the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Accordingly, the construction of a center for the treatment of kidney disease and dialysis will be opened in Kandy and in Anuradhapura while a further education and information center for empowering social welfare economies regarding kidney disease will be opened in Girandurukotte.

The proposal to tackle CKD was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by President Maithripala Sirisena in recognition of the fact that CKD has become a major community health issue prevalent in 60 divisional secretariat divisions in 11 districts.
