President Promises All-Party Conference And Religious Leaders Summit To Discuss New Constitution

President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday said he would call for an all-party conference and a religious leaders summit to discuss the proposed new constitution.

His comments come even as Parliament concluded the first of a three-day debate on the draft Interim Report of the Steering Committee of the Constitutional Assembly yesterday.

The draft Interim Report of the Steering Committee appointed to the Constitutional Assembly was released to the public on September 21.

The draft Interim Report is to be debated in Parliament on October 30, 31 and November 1.
