Thisara Perera Says He Is Willing To Captain Sri Lanka If That Is The Wish Of The Selections Committee

November 01, 2017

Thisara Perera who captained the Sri Lankan team during the T20 series against Pakistan said he was ready to captain the side if that is the wish of the Selections Committee.

Addressing a press conference upon the team's return to Sri Lanka, Perera said although he was given a young side, everyone's intention was to win.

"There were only 3 players including me who had played more than 10 international T20 matches. I think lack of experience cost us the second T20. Even though we kept the game alive until the last ball, we lost the match in the end" Perera said.

"Out batting was not up to the mark. But, we can be satisfied with the bowling department" the stand-in captain said.

"Although the team was new in the international domain, they had enough experience at the first class level," he further added.

Sri Lanka lost all three T20 matches against Pakistan in the bilateral series.

Perera said he was satisfied with the security arrangement in Lahore, Pakistan, where a suicide terrorist attack was carried out on the Sri Lankan team in 2009.
