Local Government Polls: Elections Commission Sets Closing Date For Postal Votes On December 15

The Elections Commission announced today that the closing date for postal votes at the upcoming Local Government elections would be set on December 15.

On November 27, the Elections Commission informed the Returning Officers of 93 LG bodies not affected by the case filed against the Delimitation Gazette, to call for nominations.

There were issues relating to 40 of the 133 Local Government bodies – but not wanting to further delay Local Government elections, nominations were called for the 93 LG bodies.

The case against the Delimitation Gazette was scheduled to be taken up on December 4 but the Attorney General filed a motion seeking an early call-up on November 30.
