Death Toll Rises To Seven: Over 20000 Affected By Harsh Weather Conditions In Sri Lanka - DMC

Disaster Management Centre says seven people have died and over 20,000 due to severe weather conditions which affected Sri Lanka last night and this morning. 

"Although strong winds are now dying down, rains still persist," a spokesman from the Disaster Management Ministry said, a short while ago. 

Meanwhile, regional officers of the DMC have been asked to gather nformation on houses that were damaged due to the heavy winds and rains. 

Two fishermen who went to sea off Dodanduwa were reported dead, while five still remain missing.

According to the police,  two bodies of the victims were recovered at Ambalangoda this morning.

Another fisherman in Ambalangoda also died due to inclement weather conditions.
